!st and 3rd Thursdays of the month- 8:30 PM
It was 20 years ago y…that the very popular Scanner Net was held on the 146.805 Repeater. This net covered the Scanning and Shortwave listening hobby. Well, it’s back – now on the LIMARC 146.85 / 147.375 Repeaters, with many of the same members as the original net.
The Scanning Hobby has gone through many changes in the last 20 years. Back in the early 90’s, all you needed was the frequency for a particular party you wished to listen to. For example, the Nassau County 5th Precient was on 477.2125. Pretty simple, right? But then came the trunked systems – Motorola Phase 1, Phase 2, Hybrid…Now you need a different Scanner and a lot more information. Figuring out the fleet map for a Motorola System was extremely difficult. Many hobbyists just gave up.
Well since then the tide has turned. Both Uniden and Whistler now offer Scanners so simple to use, that you can get started as long as you know your zip code.
With The Radio Reference Database, now you don’t need to figure out a Fleet map. In fact, now your scanner can actually display the party you are listening to.
The Scanner / Shortwave net will be held on the first and third Thursday of every month at 8:30 PM on the 146.85 / 147.375 Repeaters.
